Guyana Cultural Tour: Photo Essay |
||||||||||
The lasting memory from bicycle touring in Guyana is its quiet friendliness -- doing things grandiose and "over-the-top" just isn't seem to be part of the cultural make-up -- this is a good thing. The country also anything but melancholy. Everyday there is a flow of sights and sounds to keep your imagination stimulated; the towns are eclectic, the villages are quaint, the forests are lush, dense and full of life, and the canals / creeks / streams / rivers and land merge and cross each other endlessly, vying for domination. The photos in the essay are only snap shots and don't do justice to the country or its people. For every building picture there are a million more. For every farm forest picture there are a million more. For every village picture there are a million more. For every face picture there are a million more. To full understand the enrichment of bicycle travel in Guyana don't be satisfied with looking through what we have selected -- there is so much that is not shown. Don't let Guyana's obscurity discourage you, it is well worth a personal visit. Comments, corrections, clarification and supplemental information are welcome. |
