ZIMBABWE: MASHONALAND SOJOURN*

Program Price (lodging, two meals/day, guide, museum fees and more):US$1090 (less than six people add $100) (airfare is not included). Average out of pocket expenses per program $100 plus or minus $50.
Description: Day 1: Harare. Check-in and local sightseeing. Day 2­5: Cycle to eastern highland. Visit development projects, schools, farms, archeological and historical sites. Day 6: Explore Inyanga National Park. Climb Zimbabwe's highest peak if you wish. Day 7­10: Cycle and visit rural areas along Sabi River Valleys. See wildlife and visit the museum and botanical garden. Day 11-12: Experience the day-in-a-life of a teacher and visit rural health center. Day 13: Visit the heritage site, the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. Day 14-15: Return to Harare and finish program.
Features: Small group, visits to the Great Zimbabwe ruins, historic rock paintings, schools, development projects, national parks, botanical garden, commercial farm and Zimbabwean run social and environmental programs, chats with a wide range of people, and breathtakingly beautiful backroads cycling.

Skill Level: Suitable for fit Beginner/Intermediate/Expert
Mileage Daily / Total: 33-110 km, 20-66 miles, starts with lower mileage / 700km, 420 miles.
Cycling Conditions: 80% paved, 20% dirt, some hills and moderate altitude (1000-2000m).
Accommodations: Small hotels, training center, village housing, no tent camping.
Van Support: None. Local transport generally plentiful when need to be called upon.
Meals Included: Two meals per day, generally breakfast and dinner (meat, fish, rice, pasta, potato, soup, corn, salad, fruit).
Other Activities: Walking, bus.
Bike: Mountain bike recommended.    Bike Rental: not available.

Description: Day 1: Visit the many museums and attractions of Bulawayo. Day 2­5: Cycle Matopos National Park and environs. Visit archeological site, training center, cave painting sites and schools and view wildlife and natural wonders. Day 6-7: Train to Victoria Falls and canoe safari. Day 8: white-water rafting on the Zambezi River. Day 9-10: Cycle to Hwange National Park and motor safari in Hwange National Park to see wildlife. Day 11-12: Cycle through the isolated country of the Batonga People. Day 13-14: Return to Bulawayo and finish the program.
Features: Small group program exploring the cultural and natural history of southwest Zimbabwe: Victoria Falls, Matopos and Hwange National Parks, organic farming, appropriate technology and day care training programs, historic sites, rock paintings, culture programs, schools, home-stay, wildlife, canoe safari and the world most exciting one day white-water rafting trip.
