Pineapple pie at midday; a walk in
Kibale forest; lots of animal sounds; views of fields of tea; flocks of birds over the
crater lake at sunset.
Ian:
Memories of a forest walk: Whoops, shill wails and grunts of a large
family of chimpanzees; chasing Red Colobus monkeys; creeping up on the
large apes feeding in the trees and hiding from us in the undergrowth;
blue dickers leaping through the bush unaware of us as we stood
motionless on the path, a stick caterpillar stuck to Joe’s shirt;
brilliant forest birds; and a gaggle of "on-safari" tourists clothed in
khaki with felt hats and feathers, each carrying lots of cameras and
zoom lenses.
