Years of civil conflict in Mozambique through the early 1990's left the countries infrastructure in ruins and thousands of abandoned anti-personnel land mines strewn about the countryside. The main roads are now open and tourists are beginning to return, including bicyclists. It is still wise to be weary when venturing off-road. In many areas there are few services to support a bike tourist. The Clube de Ciclismo de Moçambique can help you with information on current conditions.
